New Real Films is a Canadian feature film production company and winner of the CMPA/Toronto International Film Festival's producer of the year award. 

​New Real's latest film, Kicking Blood premiered at TIFF 2021. 

 

Our 14th feature film, Born To Be Blue starring 

Ethan Hawke, Carmen Ejogo and Callum Keith Rennie

written and directed by Robert Budreau was theatrically

released in 2016 by eOne Entertainment, IFC Films and 

Universal. It was nominated for 5 Canadian Screen Awards.

New Real Films won TIFF/CMPA's producer of the year.

New Real produced Gerontophilia by Bruce LaBruce, which

premiered at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals and won

Best Canadian Feature at Montreal’s Festival du Nouveau Cinema.

New Real produced Trigger directed by Bruce McDonald starring 

Molly Parker and Tracy Wright which was selected as one of TIFF’s

Top Ten films and was nominated for 4 Canadian Screen Awards. 

New Real produced  I'm Yours, written and directed by Leonard

Farlinger starring Karine Vanasse and Rossif Sutherland which premiered

at TIFF. New Real also produced DGC Best Director winner Leslie, My Name is Evil,

which premiered at TIFF and was sold to Lionsgate as well as Toronto Stories and 

Otto; or Up with Dead People which premiered at Sundance and Berlinale. 

New Real produced All Hat starring Rachael Leigh Cook, Luke Kirby and

Keith Carradine which premiered at TIFF and sold to Myriad Pictures and Universal.

 

New Real produced Monkey Warfare starring Don McKellar which won a Special Jury Prize at TIFF and was selected Top Ten. New Real executive-produced Cake starring Heather Graham as well as Sugar, winner of the Inside Out Film Festival.The Perfect Son starring Colm Feore and David Cubitt, another TIFF premiere, was nominated for two Best Actor Genies.

Projects in development include Rush the Dark by writer/director Tony Elliot (ARQ), Kipkemboi written by Joel Richardson, Seeds by Kaniehtiio Horn, Spencer and Jesse written by Ella Farlinger and Unidentified Donald by Leonard Farlinger

Jennifer Jonas producer

Her most recent feature Kicking Blood premiered at TIFF 2021. Other titles include Born to Be Blue starring Ethan Hawke, Carmen Ejogo and Callum Keith Rennie released by eOne and IFC in 2016 to glowing reviews. Jennifer won TIFF/CMPA's producer of the year. She produced Gerontophilia, from writer/director Bruce LaBruce, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and TIFF 2013 and won Best Canadian Feature at Montreal’s 2013 Festival du Nouveau Cinema. In 2012, she produced award-winning director Jerry Ciccorriti's feature, The Resurrection of Tony Gitone. She produced I'm Yours by Leonard Farlinger starring Rossif Sutherland and Karine Vanasse which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 2011. 

In 2010, she produced Bruce McDonald’s Trigger starring Molly Parker and Tracy Wright selected as one of the Toronto International Films Festival's Top Ten films. She produced Reg Harkema's Leslie, My Name is Evil which premiered at TIFF 2009 and won the Director's Guild of Canada's Best Feature Film Director prize. She produced Toronto Stories which premiered at the TIFF 2008. She produced Bruce LaBruce's gay zombie movie, Otto; or, Up with Dead People which premiered at Sundance and Berlinale. She also produced All Hat starring Luke Kirby and Rachel Leigh Cook as well as Monkey Warfare starring Don McKellar and Tracy Wright which won a Special Jury Prize at TIFF. She executive produced Cake starring Heather Graham and Sugar starring Brendan Fehr nominated for Best Actor and Best Adapted screenplay Genies. She produced Don McKellar's feature film Childstar starring Jennifer Jason Leigh with Rhombus Media nominated for 5 Genie Awards. She produced The Perfect Son starring Colm Feore and David Cubitt nominated for 2 Best Actor Genies.

 

For television, Jennifer produced Grammy nominated, Satie and Suzanne as well as Firebird and Elizabeth Rex for Rhombus Media. As 1st Assistant Director, Jennifer worked with François Girard on Peter Gabriel's Secret World and Academy Award-winning The Red Violin and Thirty-Two Short Films About Glenn Gould.

Leonard Farlinger writer/director/producer

Leonard's latest film as screenwriter entitled Kicking Blood premiered at TIFF 2021. As producer credits include Born to Be Blue starring Ethan Hawke, Carmen Ejogo and Callum Keith Rennie, nominated for 5 Canadian Screen Awards, released by eOne, IFC and Universal in 2016 to glowing reviews. He produced Bruce LaBruce’s feature, Gerontophilia which premiered at the Venice Film Festival and TIFF and won Best Film at the Festival du Nouveau Cinema in Montreal. Leonard wrote and directed the romantic comedy, I'm Yours, starring Karine Vanasse, Rossif Sutherland and Don McKellar which premiered at TIFF.

 

Leonard produced Bruce McDonald’s Trigger starring Molly Parker and Tracy Wright which was selected by TIFF as one of Canada's Top Ten feature films and was nominated for 4 Canadian Screen Awards. He produced Reg Harkema's feature, Leslie, My Name is Evil which premiered at TIFF. He directed All Hat written by novelist Brad Smith that premiered at the TIFF. He produced Monkey Warfare which won a Special Jury prize at TIFF. Leonard directed the Gemini-winning MOW, In The Dark starring Kathleen Robertson about Montreal’s famous LSD experiments. His first feature, The Perfect Son starring Colm Feore and David Cubitt was nominated for two Best Actor Genies. He is a three-time Genie Nominee for best short film.

 

Leonard's latest original screenplay is entitled Unidentified Donald.
